mommacakes delivers!

these three orders were the very first of mommacakes' as we've just launched the website on blogspot. our first delivery was to an old friend of mine back in form 6, and the cupcakes was for her sister's birthday and they gave me a kindergarten address hence the bright colors and kiddie paterns. second delivery was to my brother's friend's friend in BBU and those cupcakes were special ones because we don't make orders in small numbers unless there are extras from that particular day's order. the third one was for a birthday surprise from a friend waaaay over there in PJ to her friend who is working in JB. this friend in JB has no clue that i was coming to her office and personally hand her a box of our finest cupcakes for her birthday early in the morning. we arrived at her office sharp at 9am and she wasn't there yet so we had to rush back home and change drivers becaues khaaliq needed to get ready for work. so mommy (the mommabaker!) was also the (mommadriver!) for that particular trip! hhehehe...this time, we gave her about 1/2 an hour so that we go in when she's definitely there. so me and syahir walked in and there were a bunch of people and the reception desk (4 ladies n a man) so i asked them '&^$#& ade tak?' and they were blank faces around and one lady mengaku it was her so i wished her "happy birthday" and gave her the box. she was cockstunt shock and happy n jumping and like priceless! i was pretty high on her reaction! she didn't have a clue where it came from! heheheh...awesome feeling!

the beginning.

oh my...it has been quite a while since i had anything to type about. not that my life has been a flat journey! oh wait, who am i kiddin? it has been pretty dull. no!! maybe its because of the very stretchy holiday that i'm in now. but it'll soon end...very very soon! too soon almost! XD but i'm here to rewind a little and "reflect" on my life journeys for the couple of months. Lim will be very proud!! okay here goes, a couple of months or was it weeks ago? i tink it was around the month of May, it was nearly teachers' day and i decided to take my mother's experimental baking habits to another level. i told izni and i quote 'kite patut buat yg cam dedication tu kt skola u and sell cupcakes. ade x org yg da put up posters?'. well it didn't start from an idea of starting my very own business but more to opening more opportunites to my sister's future (just in case UNI isn't her cup of tea) and a little side income would not hurt anybody in this house. okay, so izni didn't manage to give out the flyers as i hoped but it was a start and i'm open to any number. so, i guess it was about urmmm 10 orders all together but 15 boxes of cupcakes. these were the leftovers. they were suppose to be for my cousins in KL hence the foam box. but Apu didn't show up so, they didn't get any! =( soon after that, i started having visions and daydreams of our very own cupcake line in JB. i don't here any buzzes yet about these cupcakes here so i tot why not give them the 'cupcake fever' and slowly spread the virus like a disease. LOL i started to create a blog for our cupcakes. choosing the ryte name for it wasn't easy! i liked the word "polkaswirl" but later i realized cuppcakes had one of their designs named after that word so i didn't want that name any longer. then, i tot of my mom, behind all of this, she does the baking, so it's far more than appropriate that i include something 'mother-ish' in the name. so we settled for "mommacakes". only to know a couple of hours later that ade org putih ni that uses that name (thank god she's in USA) and a singaporean baker that also does nice cupcakes calls herself 'cupcakes momma' similar but different. suprisingly, when i first started, i was all hush about the mommacakes blog. i didn't tell anyone, not until the site started to get various hits and ppl asking about the cakes. i was a little insecure at the beginning becoz it was my baby and i don't like to have it crushed. but when i told ppl about it, especially my family (mom dad sister brothers grannies cousins aunts uncle) and my beautiful PANCAKES!! (iloveyou) they were excellent! their reactions towards what i was doing were priceless!! thank you everyone, sue, bof, jay, vie, nani !!
